Here you will find the tools needed to create a FREE fairly decent looking reproduction window sticker (Monroney) for a 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1978, or 1979 American Motors (AMC) vehicle. The first tool is a Microsoft Word doc(s) that is a blank window sticker. Then there is the font that simulates a mainframe impact line printer of the day. Finally there is a collection of window stickers so you can see what they looked like and the information AMC used.

My reproduction Window Sticker project started while cleaning out my office. I came across a folder with window stickers for all the car I have ever owned except for the '73 AMX which I never had. I became curious what the original cost of the AMX was so I started researching on AMC web sites, asking people I know in the hobby, looking through books about American Motors vehicles, and asking on an AMC forum. I found most of the information I needed except for a couple things like the 4-speed and front spoiler prices which I only found the cost for of a '72 but must be close to the '73 prices.

So I decided to create a window sticker for the Javelin AMX the first thing to do was find a font that looked like the original which appeared to be printed on a mainframe line printer of the day. I came across the Computer History Museum web site that was restoring an old IBM 1401 computer and they had made a font from a IBM 1403 line printer that matched very well to what was on original American Motors (AMC) stickers I have seen. This font (IBM 1403) can be found here. A problem with this font is it does not have the slash "/", ampersand "&", or double quote (") characters. I used FontForge (a Font Editor) to add these three missing characters, many other special characters !'();:<=>?[\]^`{|}are not included in the font but I don't believe AMC used any of those on their window stickers. This updated font can be downloaded below if you want but is embedded within the window sticker documents so it is not necessary to download it.

My next issue was I needed a blank '73 window sticker to print on, I did not find a reproduction one that looked correct. So I decided to make one in Microsoft Word. I think it came out looking really good but since I don't have a real '73 sticker in my possession to measure and compare I cannot say for sure. If you are interested in using my doc of a blank reproduction '73 window sticker you can download it below. In addition to the '73 blank sticker there is also a blank reproduction '66, '67, '68, '69, '70 (provided by Lee Malaspina) '71, '72, '74, '78, and '79 window sticker. The accuracy of the window stickers depends on whether I had an actual original or just a photo from the internet, so some are more exact than others.

Once you have downloaded the Microsoft Word doc (sticker), open the doc in Microsoft Word, click in the large light blue box, set the font to "IBM 1403" size 10,  and type your car information, you can then print your personalized window sticker.

Tech Notes the blank stickers do not work on iThings you need a PC with Windows and Word also the Microsoft Word documents have the IBM 1403 font embedded but Microsoft Word can only embed TrueType fonts (TTF) but the OpenType font version looks a little better if you want to download and install it on your PC, if you do a download of the OTF font you would select the font "IBM 1403 OTF" in Microsoft Word.

Most of the data for my window stickers was taken from real examples. Below are some real examples I acquired, unfortunately I did not keep track of where they came from so I cannot give credit where credit is due.
