Instructions for building a full size bridge. The bridge is 16 feet long and 16 inches wide. This is a big piece of equipment carefully consider where you would store it.
This is the bridge you will be building.
Step 1 is to cut out the base for the center and both end sections. Cut a 4x8 piece of ¼" thick plywood into a strip 16" wide by 8' long and two pieces 16" wide by 4' long.
Step 2 cut from one of the 1x3 furring strips 4 14" pieces.
Step 3 Attach the 1' furring strip pieces with 8 #8x¾" wood screws onto both edges of the center section from step 1 and one edge of each end section. The screws go throught the deck sections into the furring strip and need to be countersunk.
Step 4 Cut the carpet so that it fits over the center section with a slight overlap.
Step 5 Cut two furring strips in half (4 4' pieces should be the result).
Step 6 Clamp one of the 8' pieces of furring strip onto one of the edges of the center section with the carpet between the center section and the furring strip (see image). If you have a finish nailer/staple gun use that to attach the furring strip from the bottom of the center section. Do the same on the each end section except using the 4' furring strips. Alternatively you can attach with 1½" deck screws. I suggest using a nail/staple/screw for every half foot.
Step 7 Lay the center section and one of the end sections with the 1x3 furring strip attached together, bottom sides up. Attach a set of door hinges onto the furring strips between the center and end sections.
Step 8 Do the same as step 7 only with the other end section.
Step 9 Trim any excess carpet off.
Step 10 You are done with the build and the end sections can be folded over the center section for storage.
Step 11 For usage place the saw horses about 7 feet apart then lay the center section over the saw horses and allow the end sections to hang down for the ramps.
