Push and pull
Push is the term used when you want your bun to move away from you. Rabbits do push naturally and very reliably whether at home or away.
Pull is the term used when you want your bun to move towards you. Rabbits do NOT pull very naturally or very reliably especially when away from home (or stressed).
So as rabbit trainers/handlers we need to rely on push. As a handler we need to position ourselves so that we can use push on our buns as often as possible.
In the top photo you can see Cookie confused, he is being pushed by his handler away from the jump yet knows he is probably supposed to jump it. This is a handler error, the handler should have went around the prior jump from the other direction.
In the bottom photo Cookie is being pushed toward the jump the handler wants him to do. The handler took the correct path around the prior jump.
As a handler you need to be looking ahead of the current obstacle on the course so you can properly position yourself for the coming obstacles.
